Meet The Music in Lanark team

Jamie Hill – (Chairman) is a retired GP with fairly broad musical tastes who sings in the local choral society and enjoys a good night’s entertainment. “A meal out, some pictures to look at, a glass of wine, lots of people to meet – the concert is pure bonus. But it is always a real bonus: we spare no expense to secure top quality musicians!”

Kerstin Gova Herriott has always had a very keen interest in music, although classical music is a fairly new discovery. Another of Kerstin’s great interests is the cinema and in the 1980’s she actually ran a cinema for several years in Sweden.

Mair Sethi works as a community psychiatric nurse. Born in Wales, she has lived in Scotland for 27 years. She likes all music but has a special interest in traditional music. She has a passion for the Clarsach and is currently Convener of the Glasgow Branch of the Clarsach Society.

Chrissy Pritchard was born in the West Midlands and studied music at Nottingham University. She worked for the BBC for over 20 years, making music programmes mainly for Radio 3 but also for Radio 2, Radio 4 and Radio Scotland. or two years Chrissy set up and ran Chamber Music Forum Scotland, an organization to develop and promote the sector both at home and internationally.  She is now training full-time to be a teacher of the Alexander Technique.

Liz Ivison taught geography, and this has made her want to explore far flung places. Other interests include singing and she’s a member of Lanark and Carluke Choral Union and Greyfriars Church Choir. “I have a very catholic taste in music, ranging from classics to 1960’s pop”.

Maggie Nicol is retired and simply loving it. She is interested in music of all kinds, rock, metal, jazz, blues and classical; Other interests are reading ,cinema, musicals, theatre of most kinds and alternative therapies.

Frank Caddell is a retired Training Manager formerly with a large life and pensions company. Pursuits include curling, gardening, snooker,golf and hill walking. He is a (bag)piper of sorts who enjoys a fairly catholic taste in music from Scottish Folk to jazz and classical.

Tom Davidson culture-lover and a moderately bad bass baritone.

John Copland is a practising GP and especially keen on Scottish Traditional/Celtic Connections music.

Allyson Matthews has been a GP at the Lanark Medical Centre for 23 years. She appreciates the impact that music can have on peoples’ lives, and has an eclectic taste. She listens to Absolute Radio and Classic FM with equal pleasure, however, ‘there is nothing to beat a live performance’.
