Alastair Savage, a versatile fiddler from Ayrshire who plays both classical and folk fiddle is joined by talented cellist Alice Allen from Aberdeenshire. Featuring classic 18th Century melodies by Neil Gow and William Marshall alongside 19th Century music by virtuoso fiddler James Scott Skinner.  Also including contemporary melodies written and arranged by Alastair and Alice together with Bluegrass music from North America.

Leon McCawley

International pianist Leon McCawley comes to New Lanark with a programme of sonatas by some of the greatest classical composers.

Praised for his unfailingly communicative playing, British pianist Leon McCawley won first prize in the 1993 International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna and second prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition the same year and we are very fortunate to be able to welcome him to Music in Lanark.

The Lorna Reid Sextet

We are delighted to welcome back Edinburgh-born Lorna Reid and her sextet. One of Scotland’s most sought-after jazz/cross genre singer-songwriters – she returns with a programme of classic swing jazz and original songs elegantly crossing genres of jazz, blues, soul and Americana.

The Cantilena Festival Players

This trio was born out of the annual Cantilena Festival, held on the Island of Islay, involving both professional musicians and students from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. We welcome the piano trio – headed by Lanark violinist Angus Ramsay – for a programme of Viennese classics by Johann Strauss, Joseph Lanner, Fritz Kreisler and Josef Strauss. Including the ever-popular Blue Danube Waltz and the Tritsch Tratsch Polka.

The Yehudi Menuhin School Ensemble of 2022

The talented young musicians of this world-renowned specialist school have been visiting New Lanark to play at the Institute as part of their annual Scottish tour for a number of years. We welcome them back for a programme of classical chamber music featuring a variety of combinations of piano and stringed instruments.
